Speakers

Russ Feingold
former Senator (D-WI) member of Judiciary and Intelligence committees
CSPAN 09/16/2009
There's also information about the use of section 215 orders that I believe Congress and the American people deserve to know. I realize that you're not the sole person to make this decision but I’m asking you today for your commitment to advocate to finding a way to find some limited information to become public so we could have a real debate about this. Would you make that commitment? Mueller: I don't think I can
Ron Wyden
U.S. Senator (D-Oregon), Member of Select Committee on Intelligence
CSPAN 03/17/2013
Part 3: Mueller: (the standard of that warrant is still up in the air.) For a more precise answer to a particular question on a particular monitoring, I would have to be more factually based and then apply the law to that particular set of facts. Wyden: Director Mueller, you have identified the exact reason why I'm trying to get an answer from Director Clapper. Because there is no question we will watch what the courts will do in the days ahead. The question is, what will be the rights of Americans while that is still being flushed out? The fact is FISA does not specify whether a warrant is required.
Bobby Scott
Representative, Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security & Investigations-Ranking Member
CSPAN2 06/13/2013
Rep Scott: We changed it from primary purpose to significant purpose that just opened up the idea, which just opens up the idea that you could have some ulterior motive. Director Mueller: on that particular language and language change, if you’d allow me to get back to you. I’d like to give some thought to that Rep Scott: and so this information that we are getting, can only be used for terrorism. That’s what we’re hearing Director Mueller: Yes, under 215, yes
Robert Mueller
FBI Director (at this hearing)
CSPAN2 06/19/2013
Mueller: it is very seldom used, generally use in a particular incident where you need the capability I will have to go back and check in terms of what we need in the images and the like. But It is very narrowly focused on the particularized cases and particularized needs and particularized cases and that is the principal of privacy limitations. Dianne Feinstein: I would like to get that information. (It would be helpful to us.)
